Picking the Right Power
Think of a 1500W ceiling heater as your gold standard for a medium-sized bathroom. Here’s the thing: if you try to skimp and put a 500W unit in a room that’s about 6 square meters, you’re going to be disappointed. The tiles are just too cold, and the heater won’t be able to keep up. You’ll end up leaving it on forever, which just wastes electricity. But you don’t want to go overboard either. In a tiny powder room, 1500W is way too much—you’ll feel like you’re sitting in a sauna. For those small spaces, 800W is usually the sweet spot. It keeps things cozy without making you sweat.
Where to Put the Lamp
Infrared heat travels in a straight line. It doesn’t drift around the room. Because of that, we always mount them right above the “dry zone” or exactly where you step out of the shower. It creates this little pocket of warmth that hits you the second you reach for your towel. Just be mindful of the height. If the lamp is too high, you won’t feel the heat. Too low? You might actually burn yourself. It’s all about finding that middle ground.
A Quick Warning on Your Wiring
High wattage means fast heat, which is great. But it also means a bigger pull on your electricity. If you try to hook up a few 1500W units to one circuit without the right wiring, you’re probably going to trip a breaker. It’s a pain to deal with. Before we install anything, we always double-check the total amperage of the bathroom circuit. You want to make sure your wires can handle the load so you don’t end up with burnt-out terminals or a dead circuit. Better to check it now than find out the hard way later.
