Plus, the ramp-up is incredibly fast. You aren&amp;rsquo;t waiting around for the air to reach a certain temperature, which means your electricity bill takes a hit in a good way.&#xA;Then there&amp;rsquo;s the lead-free problem.&#xA;Lead-free solders are stubborn. They need way more heat to reflow than the old SnPb stuff. With IR, we can tweak the wavelength—switching between short-wave or medium-wave—to hit the exact spot where the material absorbs heat. You get a clean, wet joint without stressing the board to death.&#xA;But look, it&amp;rsquo;s not a &amp;ldquo;plug and play&amp;rdquo; situation.&#xA;You can&amp;rsquo;t just rip out your oven and slap in an IR lamp and expect it to work. IR packs a lot of heat into a small area. If your part has some thick spots and some thin spots, you&amp;rsquo;re going to run into &amp;ldquo;hot spotting.&amp;rdquo; You might burn through a thin section before the thick part even gets warm. You&amp;rsquo;ve got to be smart about your lamp arrays and conveyor speeds to make sure the heat is spread evenly across the wafer.&#xA;Still, once you get it dialed in? It&amp;rsquo;s a breath of fresh air.&#xA;We&amp;rsquo;re using these systems to kill off those chemical-heavy drying stages. Your drying line takes up way less floor space, and your warm-up time goes from hours to seconds. It keeps the regulators happy, sure, but it mostly just makes the whole day run smoother.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
